Operation And Functioning Of Sand Trap Louver With Bird Screen
STLs are used for the purposes of in taking fresh air in the HVAC systems. They are basically designed to separate particles of sand and dust at low air velocity and hence make sure that secondary stage filters are not loaded with dust and sand particles. They act as pre filters of sand particles in the HVAC system.
Operation of pre filters:
These pre filters perform their operation of filtering the air at their best in low air velocities. Their ability to separate sand and other large particles of dust in high concentrations make them a vital component of the HVAC in those areas where sand and dust can be present in the air.
Function of vertical blades:
Pre filters have vertically arranged blade sections installed which with the combination of holes at the bottom make sure the sand particles are drained automatically which makes the sand trap louver maintenance free and self cleaning equipment. The pre filter is not used as a substitute for secondary stage filters or conventional filters; they just avoid excessive sand and dust from going to the secondary filters.

Blades and frame are made with great quality extruded aluminum which is 1.5 mm and 1.2 mm thick.
Bird screen:
The standard size of the G.I wire mesh used is 12 mm x 12 mm x 1 mm diameter but an aluminum wire with mesh of slight different measurements of 12 mm x 12 mm x 1.5 mm diameter is also an option.
Drainage hole:
Normally the diameter of the holes at the bottom of the pre filter for drainage purposes is 20 mm in diameter.
Filter frame:
Filter frame is made with 20 gauge aluminum sheet.
Filter media:
It is composed of expanded aluminum. An optional synthetic filter can also be used.
Description of STL with bird screen:
The blades and frame are constructed with extruded aluminum of high quality. This construction with high material gives the advantage of rigidity and makes them corrosion free and corrosion resistant.
Two opposite rows are used to vertically mount a set of composed inverted u-channels.
20 mm diameter holes are placed at the bottom of the pre filter in two rows for the purpose of filtering and drainage of sand particles.
Washable extruded aluminum filter is placed with aluminum mesh acting as the filter media.
Filters are available in different thicknesses of 12, 25 and 50 mm.
